Terms and Conditions of Participation for the “AI-ncestors Challenge”

1. Organizer

The contest is organized by Deutsche Telekom AG, Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 140, 53113 Bonn, Germany (“Telekom” or, together with all companies affiliated with Telekom within the meaning of §§ 15 et seq. AktG, the “Telekom Group”).

2. Participation period

Participation in the “AI-ncestors Challenge” (“Contest”) is possible from 15 September 2025 up to and including 5 October 2025, 23:59 (CET).

3.Eligibility

Only natural persons who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry are eligible to participate. Participation is open worldwide if participation is permitted under the laws of the participant’s country of residence. Employees of the Telekom Group and their relatives are excluded. Proof of age may be required in the event of a win. By entering the Contest, the participant accepts these Terms and Conditions of Participation.

4. Submission requirements

The participant shall create an AI-generated video of 45 to 90 seconds in length (“Video”) based on the script provided in the Contest description.

  • The Video must be generated exclusively using artificial intelligence. Subsequent manual editing is not permitted.
  • Any AI tools of the participant’s choice may be used
  • Each participant may submit a maximum of three (3) Videos

The script may solely be used for the limited purpose of creating the Video for the Contest. It may not be used, edited, reproduced, stored, exploited, sublicensed or transferred in whole or on party for any other purpose.

Videos containing any of the following content are prohibited: offensive, degrading, racist, sexist, pornographic, or violence-glorifying material; content inciting hatred, terrorism, discrimination, or posing health/safety risks; deepfakes of real persons without documented consent; discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate content; or material that violates applicable law or third-party rights. In particular, it is prohibited to include sensitive personal data of third parties or to depict real trade marks, designs, or copyrighted works without the relevant usage rights.

If you consider incorporating trademarks of Telekom into the submitted video, the Telekom Brand Guidelines must be observed. The guidelines are accessible, upon registration, at https://brand.telekom.com; when creating an account, the field “E-mail of Deutsche Telekom contact” must be completed with the following address: ai-competition@telekom.de. The Brand Guidelines shall be used solely for the preparation of the participant’s submission, and any other use is strictly prohibited. In particular, it is forbidden to use products or other materials containing these trademarks for any purpose other than participation in this competition. All such materials must be deleted without delay upon conclusion of the competition. Please note that the letter “T” and die color “Magenta” are registered trademarks of Telekom.

Prior to submission, the participant shall ensure that the Video complies with these requirements. Submission must be made by means of a link emailed to ai-competition@telekom.de. The link may only be shared via one of the following services: Microsoft Cloud, Google Cloud, WeTransfer, or Dropbox. Submissions via any other channel will not be accepted. The email must also include information about the AI tools used.

5. Grant of rights and warranties

To the extent the participant holds rights in the Video, the participant grants the Telekom Group a non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide, and perpetual right to store, reproduce, use, and exploit the Video, in whole or in part, with or without attribution, for purposes of conducting the Contest and for advertising on social-media platforms (including Telekom’s own channels and the private social-media channels of Telekom executives and employees). For these purposes, Telekom may adapt, edit, transform, dub, subtitle (in any language, including sign language), capture screenshots, and combine the Video with other content, and may engage service providers for such activities. To the extent that the Video is not protected by any unwaivable rights (e.g. copyright), the participant waives any and all rights that could hinder such use.

Telekom may, but is not obliged to, provide an author or source credit. The rights are granted free of charge; no remuneration is owed.

The participant warrants that:

  • the Video was generated solely through AI and has not been manually edited thereafter;
  • the participant complied with the terms of use of the AI system employed and did not use any manifestly unlawful AI systems or sources;
  • the participant holds all rights in any content input into the AI system (including any third-party material) and in using and sublicensing or transferring (as the case may be) such third-party material (including licences/consents for identifiable persons, voices, private property, or other personal data);
  • the participant is paying particular attention to the protection requirements for minors;
  • the participant holds all rights in any content input into the AI system and any third-party material used (including licences/consents for identifiable persons, voices, private property, or other personal data);
  • the Video does not infringe any third-party rights (in particular copyright, neighbouring rights, or personality rights) and otherwise complies with applicable law; and
  • the Video does not violate the terms of use of the social-media platforms of Meta, TikTok, or Reddit.

In the event of a breach of these Terms and Conditions, the participant shall indemnify and hold harmless the Telekom Group from all third-party claims and related costs (including legal defence costs).

All Videos not selected by the jury will be deleted after the winners have been determined and announced. Telekom is under no obligation to publish any Video and may delete a Video at any time in whole or in part. Participants have a right to deletion only on the basis of a final court judgment, an obvious legal infringement, a substantiated DMCA/DSA notice, or the exercise of data-protection rights.

6. Selection of winners

From 6 October 2025 till the 19.10.2025, a jury of experts from Deutsche Telekom’s AI Competence Center and Group Brand Management will select the three best Videos. The evaluation will consider video quality, creativity, and clarity of the narrative. All other criteria remain at the jury’s discretion. The three shortlisted videos will be presented to the Reddit community, which will vote to determine first, second, and third place during an AMA session with Chief Brand Officer Ulrich Klenke.

7. Notification of winners

Winners will be notified till 20 October 2025 by email sent to the address from which the Video was submitted. Telekom assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or availability of participants’ email addresses; participants are responsible for checking spam folders.

8. Prizes and winner obligation

In accordance with the Reddit voting, the following prize money will be awarded:

  • 1st Place: €10,000 (ten thousand euro)
  • 2nd Place: €3,000 (three thousand euro)
  • 3rd Place: €2,000 (two thousand euro)

The allocation of places 1 to 3 will be determined according to the voting of the Reddit community.

Any taxes or duties arising are the responsibility of the winner. Cash payment, conversion to goods, exchange, or transfer of the prize to another person is excluded.

To claim the prize, the winner must reply to the notification email within 14 days and provide:

  • recipient’s bank details;
  • recipient’s full address; and
  • the bank’s full address and IBAN or, for U.S. banks, a 9-digit routing number (Fedwire Code, RTN, or ABA).

Failure to respond in due time with the required information will result in forfeiture of the prize. Telekom is then free to award the prize to another participant and/or publish the Video without awarding a prize.

9. Extraordinary termination rights of the organizer

No entitlement to participate exists. Telekom may exclude any participant without notice for cause, including but not limited to breaches of these Terms and Conditions, manipulation or attempted manipulation of the Contest, or attempts to disrupt or influence the orderly conduct of the Contest. Telekom also reserves the right to terminate the Contest at any time.

10. Data protection information

Personal data collected in connection with participation will be processed by Telekom and its service providers for the purpose of conducting the Contest and notifying winners (Article 6 (1)(b) GDPR). Telekom and all affiliated companies comply with applicable data-protection laws. For further information, including participants’ rights, please refer to the General Data-Protection Notice of Telekom Deutschland GmbH (http://telekom.de/datenschutzhinweise/download/000.pdf). If participants reside outside the European Economic Area, personal data may be transferred to third countries. For additional information, please consult the Data-Protection Notice of Deutsche Telekom AG. Participants have a right to deletion only on the basis of a final court judgment, an obvious legal infringement, a substantiated DMCA/DSA notice, or the exercise of data-protection rights.

11. Governing law and legal recourse

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the participant’s country of habitual residence remain unaffected. The place of jurisdiction for all disputes is Bonn. Recourse to the courts is excluded with respect to the selection of winners and the awarding of prizes.
